Blessed James Autotuned

Published on May 4, 2014
Dear people of the Internet,

After I released the first episode of "Autotune the Church," I was looking for more people to autotune, and discovered Blessed James Alberione. At first I was pretty hesitant, especially because he didn't speak any English whatsoever.

Since beginning this video I have fallen in love with James Alberione. I have read several books on him in a single sitting, and have been abundantly blessed and strengthened by his message and life story. I even travelled hundreds of miles to visit one of the communities that he founded. I can honestly say that he is my favourite saint now. He is truly a saint for our times, and his message was so far ahead of his time that it is still growing in relevance now, decades since his passing.

Since Fr. Alberione was from northern Italy and never spoke English, I had to take a slightly different approach to this video. The voice of Fr. Alberione that you hear autotuned is actually Fr. Angelo Biancalana, an 80-year-old Comboni Missionary (from northern Italy), who spent many years serving in Uganda, and therefore speaks very good English. He was the voice of Fr. Alberione in an upcoming documentary on the life of this great saint (watch the trailer at www.MediaApostle.com). Instead of working with direct audio recordings of Fr. Alberione like the other episodes, I autotuned English translations of Fr. Alberione's words from the documentary spoken by Fr. Angelo. I also had to video record my own mouth lip-syncing the words and impose it over Fr. Alberione's own mouth, since there was no video footage of him speaking English.

I strongly encourage you to learn more about him foster a devotion to this amazing man! And what a better way to start than to watch the documentary about him when it comes out.

Pax Caritas et lol,
-Clark
